Prime Real Estate For Mental Wellness

Ever thought about the spaces of prime real estate in your life?


No, I’m not talking about the land your residence occupies. I’m talking about the spaces in your home, at the office, and on your person that you encounter visually, multiple times per day. These valuable zones may be your refrigerator door, your bathroom mirror, or the space above your desk.


But why are these spaces so valuable? Because they are the perfect place for positive affirmations and encouraging reminders to bring comfort to your mind, body, and soul.

In the twenty-first century, the primey-est of this prime real estate is your phone’s lock and home screens. According to various sources in 2021, Americans check their phones anywhere between 58 to over 250 times per day. Completely setting aside the whole screen-time-impacting-mental-wellness chat (we’ll save that for another time), I would say it’s safe to assume there’s probably very little you see this much in your daily life, maybe aside from your own hands. And since tattooing affirmations to your hands would be a bit extreme of me to suggest - although I’m sure many have done it - I have a less permanent, but still effective solution.

My thought: maximize your phone screen real estate. I know many use the customizable screens to highlight their favorite family photo, precious memory, or goofy fur baby. I’m not asking you to give that up. I am encouraging you to pick either your lock or home screen, and change it to an image that will remind you or encourage you in your self-care and mental wellness journey. Create a piece of art or write a note and take a photo, select an image from a site like Unsplash.com, or use my personal favorite: the wallpapers below.

affirming reminders

I am in love with these images. This set of phone wallpapers combines some of my favorite reminders and affirmations with beautiful, minimalist photographs.

Currently, I have “BREATHE” on my lock screen. For me, taking a few deep breaths is the simplest, most basic form of self-care. And I’m totally vibing with the moody background image by Annie Spratt.

Ok, yes, I admit: I created these designs, so obviously I’m a bit bias, but I do love them. And just like any other resource I find effective, I want to share them with you. So I’ve bundled up these wallpapers as free download!
